A treadmill that doesn't protect runners is not a good track
The debate about which is better or indoor running never stops. In fact, the two are not contradictory, but they can be organically combined to make running fitness twice the result with half the effort.
Advantages and disadvantages of different runways:
Rubber running track
Pros: Rubber tracks are less harmful to the body than outdoor roads, making them better for speed training.
Cons: Running in circles in the same direction puts too much pressure on the legs. It is recommended to change direction by running one lap at a time.
Outdoor road
Pros: Uneven roads can improve leg muscles and body balance.
Cons: This is also because rough roads increase the risk of injury and slipping.
Running machine
Pros: It can help runners train at pace, monitor heart rate and keep track of running performance.
Disadvantages: Back, hips, knees Risk for back, hip, knee, and ankle injuries.
Tips for Runners:
Novice runner
A rubber track or relatively flat cement road is preferred for continuous practice. Once you have a running foundation, try high-intensity interval training on the treadmill, and then run outdoors in different road conditions.
Regular runner
If your goal is a marathon, choose an outdoor run with similar terrain. When the weather is bad, terrain simulation training can use the treadmill's speed and slope adjustment features. The rubber track can be used as a training ground for sprints.
Why do treadmills need to protect runners?
The other day, I wrote a short post on my blog, "The Truth," about treadmill shock absorption:
Because of its structural design principle, the treadmill naturally has the function of shock absorption. Any artificially increased elastic structure is prone to joint damage, especially for average weight users. I think the proper shock absorption is that the feet feel slightly softer than a standard rubber track, which you need to test yourself to feel. After all, everyone's height, weight, and running posture are different, and so are their shock absorbations. Therefore, in my opinion, the slogans of N-class shock absorbers, silicone shock absorbers and various car shock absorbers that are touted on the Internet make no sense.
Therefore, the shock absorption of the treadmill is a personalized demand, rather than a standard configuration, we must personally try when choosing the treadmill, in the case of uncertainty do not buy.
Personally recommended treadmills have slightly softer shock absorption than rubber tracks, and need to be selected according to different users' weight and running habits.
